My Top Five Digital Photography Tips

Getting great photos can really be a snap- if you take a little time and get a bit creative.
Here are my favorite, super simple tips to creating photo memories worth sharing:

1. Buy a camera you can be comfortable using. Those fancy pants cameras with all the 'extras' are great, but ask yourself if the features are something you are actually going to use and are they worth the extra cost? If not, just skip them.

2. Keep the camera steady (I know, you're probably saying "duh" right about now!) Hey now, keeping a steady hand on your camera isn't always easy! You could use a tripod, find a flat surface to set the camera on, or simply lean back against a wall or tree. This should help you get the clear, sharp pictures you want.

3. Turn your camera sideways to get an intriguing vertical shot. The results may surprise you.

4. Use your imagination to make your pictures as creative as you can.
Use your location, props, and some unusual posing to really give you a unique photo.

5. Be prepared – always pack an extra memory card, batteries, etc in your camera bag. You don't want to miss a photo op because of poor planning, do you?

These are some very basic tips, I know, but I use them every time I shoot my pics and they help me get the shots I'm after. I hope they help you, too.

Digital Photography - Get Creative and Share

More and more often, people are sharing their digital photos on the web and through email. This is especially nice when you have family and friends who don't live nearby. Sharing photos of the events in each others lives can help you feel closer to one another.

One of the things I like about digital cameras is that, unlike film, you can reuse the storage media over again with no extra cost. It is so annoying to only be able to store a few photos on your film camera, with no 'do-overs' once they are taken. I think it's great to be able to view the results immediately and if you don't like them, you can just retake the shot.

You can use photo editing software to alter your images that gives you a totally different photo than what you started with. You can use it to sharpen the focus, crop out unwanted parts, get rid of red eye and much more. Once you get used to the software, you may find out you can do some pretty creative and fun things with your photos. Your imagination might be your only limit!

Digital photography is a wonderful innovation for this ' instant everything' world. No more waiting for your film to be developed! Just download your pictures to your pc, edit them as needed and you are ready to share your 'masterpieces'.

Tips For Buying A Used Digital Camera

Were you wondering if it is worthwhile or safe to buy used digital camera equipment? Are you a complete novice, and a bit daunted by the cost of buying a new digital camera? What if it turns out you don’t care for photography as much as you thought you would? If these are concerns for you, read on…

Buying a used camera can be a very rewarding experience. I have personally purchased three used digital cameras and one new digital camera. The three used cameras turned out to be better purchases than the new one!

Tips for Buying a Used Digital Camera

Talk to a friend who knows a lot about digital cameras. Get their opinion on which features would be good for a beginner.

Make 100% sure that the camera is compatible with the computer and operating system you use.

Also, be sure to check what storage media it uses, and the capacity of the media that is included with the camera. If you need to get a bigger media card, what is it going to cost?

What is the warranty term? What accessories are included? Is the owner’s manual and/or other documentation available? You will also want to research the price of the same or comparable camera in brand new condition.

Ask if the camera is returnable if it turns out to be a lemon. Often, retailers will give you full credit toward a new or different used camera provided that the camera is in the same condition as when you purchased it.

Are all the parts included? Missing accessories, missing or outdated software, cameras that show visible signs of abuse (dents, scratches), or make funny noises – these are indications that the camera may not end up being much of a bargain, after all!

If you decide to shop for used digital camera equipment on eBay, or another auction site, look for sellers with high feedback scores and positive comments from purchasers as assurance that you'll be treated fairly

Refurbished Cameras

Generally speaking, “refurbished” is a label used by many manufacturers to identify cameras that have been returned by resellers and cannot be sold again as new. They will still be high quality, full-featured cameras that can provide years of first-rate imaging. In most cases, the cameras were sold to a consumer, and the consumer returned the camera for any number of reasons. These cameras typically are in perfect working order, but cannot be sold as new because of consumer protection laws. Factory-trained technicians thoroughly inspect the cameras, making any necessary repairs, and the manufacturer wholesales it to be sold as refurbished – at a substantially lower price compared to a new product. My first digital camera was a refurbished model and it worked great for me.

A digital camera that sold for six or seven hundred dollars a couple of years ago can be found today for less than half of that amount. Buying a used digital camera enables you to cash in on quality without destroying your budget. Generally, there are good, solid models in a multitude of price ranges, so 'inexpensive' doesn’t necessarily equate to bad.

Some of The Ways We Use Photography

Glamour photography is popular in advertising and in men's magazines. Street photography is a type of documentary photography that usually features people in candid situations in public places such as streets, parks, beaches, malls, political conventions, and other settings. The unique thing about still photography is that it forces you to stop, it forces you to think. Food photography is similar to still life photography, but requires some special skills. Nature photography is a rewarding experience for the photographer and also for the people who get to view the results. Aerial photography is used today as a source to collect a wide variety of information, including the location of transportation routes, streams, lakes, and the outlines of buildings and farm fields. Out of the various styles of photography recognized today, sports photography is favored most, probably for the thrill and excitement associated with it. For many, wedding photography is a dream job -getting paid to go to parties and take pictures.

All photographers are competing against an enormous pool of others at every skill level. As a photographer you need to learn how to make yourself soar above all the other turkeys out there. The photographer's job is to use all their skills and techniques to bring meaning to a picture.

The tools of photography change all the time and these changes effect what we can do in the making a photograph. New photographic visions can arise from these technological changes. But for me, photography isn't about tools: it's about connecting with other people through your unique vision of the world. I personally feel that photography is another form of art like painting and I judge it based on whether the artists' expression talks to me.

Conclusion

The wonderful thing about photography is its ability to perform many roles and functions and to serve as a tool for individual expression. Photography is alive and well, it rocks!
Excuse me, but I'm taking off now to make pictures.
